The week is a quarter cycle too
Monday is the week's Q1, Tuesday its Q2, Wednesday Q3, Thursday Q4 — Friday sits outside the count. That's the ribbon above. Inside each day the same four-quarter structure repeats on the Daily (6 hours), the 90-minute and the Micro (22.5 minutes), each nested in the one above it. A door opens where three or more of those cycles sit in the same quarter at once, read top-down — D Q3 · 90 Q3 · Mi Q3. The more that agree, the deeper it is.
Red folders cluster in Q3
They are the week's scheduled volatility, and they are not scattered evenly. Four in five US releases land in the daily Q3 — distribution, the quarter Quarterly Theory describes as usually the easiest to read. That isn't a coincidence: the calendar is built around the New York morning, and the New York morning is where the day's Q3 falls. It gives the week a shape you can read in advance — a week stacked with red folders leans toward distribution and directional delivery, a quiet week toward accumulation and chop.
Timing changes what a setup is worth
A divergence that prints around 8:30 or 10:00 New York has a catalyst behind it; the same shape at 7pm in Asia usually doesn't. The release itself distorts the 90-minute and micro quarters it lands in — the common approach is to let it print, then trade the expansion after it or fade the initial fakeout.
